One Month Old

We went to Little Rock and had pictures taken when Caleigh was a month old. They were done by Buttry Photography and Art and she was wonderful. She actually came to my parents house and was there for two hours. She was very patient and took tons of pictures. Here are just a few good ones!

Week by week

Well of course I have more than enough pictures to post here but I am going to try to post at least one a week to watch her grow! She already looks so much bigger and longer to Michael and I. We just can't believe how fast she grows! But no matter what we still think she is pretty cute and wouldn't trade her for anything!

One more doctor's visit

We returned to the doctor for another weigh-in and Caleigh has finally passed her birth weight so now we don't have to go back until her two month visit, which is now only a month away! Michael will be joining us for that visit because I think I may be the one crying when she has to get all her shots!

Waiting for her mom to finish getting ready!

She loves the carseat!

Our Hospital Visit through Pictures

Just a few pictures. I will try to add more later.

Mom's first time to hold her!

Daddy's first time to hold his baby girl!

Caleigh Anne

I will begin with explaining most everything that our precious girl endured when she entered this world. (Sorry it's going to be a long one!)

Michael and I went in for a normal check up on Tuesday, July 20 and that is when the fun began. I had not been feeling well for a couple days but figured it was that 'uncomfortable feeling' all pregnant women get when you get close to the end. After seeing the doctor he sent us to the Labor and Delivery floor to get admitted so I could get some fluids and be monitored for the evening. The next morning our doctor came in and said he had looked at my blood work and decided that we were going to be parents before the end of the day. I was a little overwhelmed! Because I was so sick they had to put me completely out before doing the c-section and Michael was not allowed to be in the room with me. Caleigh was delivered at 12:57 pm and was put on oxygen because her breathing was not as strong as they would like. She seemed to be fine and dad and grandparents got to dote over her.

Thursday morning Caleigh had a pneumothorax in her right lung, which basically means her lung had a hole. They had to put in a chest tube so they could get the air out of her chest cavity and pull her lung back into place so it could heal. At this point she had to be put on a ventilator to help her breathe. Her chest xray also showed some cloudiness in her lungs so she was placed on antibiotics to help clear up her lungs. So I didn't get to see her for the first two days because I was drugged and trying to recover from surgery and then when I finally did get to see her I couldn't hold her. (Heartbreaking for a new mom!) Each day though after that she seemed to improve and continued to be removed from tubes and lines. After a few days she was jaundice and had to be placed under the light which was no big deal to us after everything else we had been faced with. The light or tanning bed is what made her famous in her first week of life! The hospital we were at is the only hospital in this area that has a NICU and is working with Ronald McDonald House to add family rooms and the local news stations were at the hospital doing a story and the cameraman wanted to use the baby under the blue light. Here is the link to the story: http://www.4029tv.com/video/24400362/index.html

Finally after ten days of being stuck and attached to tubes and antibiotics Caleigh finally got to come home and be held by her momma anytime she wanted! She is fine now and doing well eating, gaining weight, and keeping her parents from getting too much sleep!

New to the Blogging World!

Well I suppose as our family grows we will join the blogging world so those who aren't close enough to see us everyday can still be a part of our lives. I am new to this whole thing so be patient with me as I try to figure all this out and try to remember to update!
